Power window off track, motor still works

your window does not ride on a track the motor has a gear that drives a mechanism up and down. it sounds like the motor came loose.
pop the door panel and remount the motor, first pull the window all the way up. hope this helps

I have a 1997 buick skylark (4-door). power windows dont work properly. when i togle the switch, it will go down slightly then stop. as i drive around the block it will go down further. acts as if i...

Some times the tracks that the window rides in (inside the door) get gunked up and dirty with the factory lube and dust. this makes the window motor work harder and the overheat and stop. Clean the tracks that the window rollers are in and relube using white grease. the windows should work easer and smoother.

Driver side window rolls down. when it goes up it stop. after a little while it will go up a little more but not all the way. it takes several times to close window.

motor has a thermal protection device..you need a window motor, and the regulator and tracks checked 4 binding..I just replaced a motor on a cutlass pass. side now the drivers side is doing the same thing.you can pull up on the window and help it a little by opening the door and placing palms of hands on glass and pulling up on glass while some one else pushes the button..otherwise it takes repeated attempts as you described.motor is not cheap, aftermarket or dealer.

Passage window

Sounds like the window regulator is messing up. See if you can take the panel off and look inside with a light and mirror.
