There is a small, rounded hose in the front of my XJ6 that looks like it houses the thermostat (it is shaped like it anyway). Anyone know what it is called? Mine has blown out and I am having trouble identifying it by name. Thanks! Ric

Hello: Approximately above the alternator. The large hose leading from it across the front of the engine should be a giveaway. It is within that housing with the large hose.
It is in the housing below the engine coolant filler cap, at the inlet manifold.
You will have to remove the top hose, and slacken bypass hose to the water pump, and remove the 2 bleed hoses on top.
There are 2 bolts and a, stud that secure the housing, take care with the bolts they sometimes snap in the inlet manifold, bearing that its 2Oyrs old now,
You will need to replace the gasket on the housing along with the thermostat.
I see you posted this on the 18th Dec, so maybe you know all this by now ?
Good Luck !
John.
yes - behind the gear shift, in between the two front seats - where the driver would place his/her right arm while he/she is driving. I beleive that is the only "glove box" that the car has. That is all that my 1995 jag XJ6 has anyway. :-)
