obviously first check fluid level to be sure it is properly filled. Its an old vehicle and a slow leak could cause low fluid level. Thats what id check first.
If you cycle thru the gears.... 1st then 2nd then 3rd then drive, does it go into drive? If not, you could have a real problem.
The problem is the car think the park brake is on (intermittently). I would check the park brake switch, perhaps it's loose, or perhaps the park brake is pushed down to the first "click" spot. Also check the wiring connection to the switch, and the wiring nearby. Good luck!
