Security system problem car may not restart

1999 deville ran fine now wont start. dash says security system problem car may not restart any ideas?

Had the same problem, a service guy at the dealer soldered a fuse between the ignition wires. Never had a problem again. The problem is the keys, they have a resistor on the key, if the ignition doesnt detect the right resistance it will not unlock the security system. The fuse allows the system to always read resistance in the ignition system. Seriously I could not make something that silly up, but the fuse worked. 5 years not a problem

If you have an anti theft syestem you need to take it out or by pass it if its lojack good luck but if its an other kind i could help you out

Your security system may be causing a problem? Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes, yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader.

Are you saying it won't crank, or won't start ?

Is possible that ypu need to reset the security system, I suggest check on the 1999 Cadillac Deville Owners Manual this procedure.

I have a 1998 cadillac deville that when I start it, It runs fine, but when I turn it off and try to restart it, It won't start, says starting dissabled, remove key, but if you let it set for awhile it...
If you are getting a starting disabled message, it's an indication that your security system is rejecting your ignition key. Your car is equipped with the VATS security system which requires a key with a resistor attached (small chip). Over time the sensor inside the cylinder will not recognize the key. Usually a new key will fix the problem. In more serious cases, it's the cylinder itself that's bad and needs replacement.

Car wont start
as long as security theft system is on, car wont start.

don't you have the remote key to disable the theft system?

you can bypass security but you have to have wiring experience and splicing before you can proceed.
