Turned my wipers on in 1980 oldsmobile cutlass only one arm moved

might be the motor itself is burned out.

turn on and manually move wiper to see if engaged , check wiper motor brushes ,

Your wiper arms are loose at the base. Loosen the nuts that fix them to the spindle on the mechanism. Run the wipers and stop them normally. Position the wipers in their off position and tighten the arms on the spindles.

take small cover of wiper arm underneath is nut loosen and pry wiper arm off good luck

• Yes it is. Starting at the very left end of that arm is your cruise control adjustment. The next thing down is your wiper adjustment. You turn it one way or the other to adjust the speed of your wipers. If you keep going all the way down (to the right) to the end of that arm there is a little tab sticking up. Pushing that will spray the washer fluid on the windshield for you.

you need to check to make sure the "arm" is moving , some gm vehilce have a sealed wiper unit, but the alero should still have arms. turn wipers on and look down at the cowl vent and see if it appears to move. if it is the mounting post for the arm on the passenger side has PROBABLY stripped out the soft lead mount at the bottom of the wiper arm. make sure the wipers are "parked", then carefully try to wiggle the pass side back and forth (its normal motion...). if it moves you will need to pop the arm off(super careful here..) and the post that looks smooth must be cleaned out with a fine pick or equilalent, the post accually has splines all around to engage the wiper arm. put on the new arm.. presto.... wipers.

did you check the nuts at the end of wiper arms make sure their tight, also if u can move both arms across windshield real easy your wiper transmission is bad

there are little teeth on the connection if they are worn then you need to find out hoe to replce them

THEY CALL IT YHE WIPER TRANMISSION. THE LINKAGE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE WIPER MOTOR FELL OFF BECAUSE THE NUT THAT KEEPS IT SECURED TO THE MOTOR LOOSENED & FELL OFF ALLOWING THE LINKAGE TO FALL OFF OF THE WIPER MOTOR.FIRST YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW NUT TO HOLD ON THE LINKAGE (IT MIGHT BE RIGHT UNDER THE WIPER MOTOR IF THERE WAS SOMEPLACE FOR IT TO FALL)REINSTALL THE LINKAGE, (IT ONLY FITS ONE WAY) PUT ON THE NEW NUT (TIGHTEN IT ENOUGH BUT MAKE SURE THE WIPERS CAN STILL ROTATE) AND YOU SET
