Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

starter has nothing to do with check engine light ,you local man obviously found a cracked rubber vacumn pipe under the inlet manifold and thought he ddone it getting the starter out so he cut the end off and refitted it .The problem with the nissan garage is lack of work so they employ the milk the golden cow attitude iam sorry to say .Just like blood sucking solicitors in divorce cases or ambulance chasing vampires .And yes they are welcome to try to sue me for defamation of carecter ,but they are all the same no matter what country you live in ,they will also diddle you out of compensation by taking a backhander from the insurance company as well .

Access the fuse panel in the glove box by turning the nylon retaining clips inward 90 degrees until the panel drops down.check your fuses first if ok check your owners manual to see if you have a manual override feature n your car if not Call a BMW dealer and ask a service tech they may instruct you on making the repair yourself
