Big job. If you are doing it yourself it is worth the $25 to get a repair manual for your car at you local parts store. I did my 95 Marquis and it starts by dropping the steering column and removing the dash in order to gain access to the core. Mine was a $77 part with $450 in labor just to get to it and put everything back together.

The dash has to be removed to gain access to the heater box, a factory repair manual is a 100% must have for this job. The heater box then comes out and is split open to replace the core.
this is not a job for anyone except a experienced mechanic, about 10 hour job, a factory service manual is a must, u can buy a factory manual here.

92 chevy 1500 silverado Changed thermostat, heater core, core hose not hot. No heat

It sounds like your heater core is stopped up. try flushing it out, you can use a water hose. and if you cant get it to clean out then you will need to change the heater core.

If the heater core isn't leaking it doesn't likely need changing. It sounds like you could have a problem with the heater control valve - a valve in one of the heater hoses that controls flow through the hose. If you smell coolant and see moisture on your windshield (inside) or have coolant leaking onto the floor - you might need the heater core replaced.

Heater core needs to be changed

when your heater core goes bad, generally it leaks inside the car and can leave a odor of antifreeze. It can effect colling of the engine...so I would change it.

It is behind the dash..but not a huge deal..take your time some saturday afternoon & youll have it
