bad compressor? (seizing) or
or engine is so weak, at idle (lean), that it cant run your compressor.
the reason for the lope is the ECU idle speed controls going crazy.
id say, the ISC is a victim here.
1. Vacuum leakage Check throttle body and intake manifold for tightness. check all vacuum hoses.
2. Faulty fuel or pump or electrical.
3. Plugged PVC valve.
4. Air filter clogged
5. Leaking head gasket.
6. Camshaft lobs worn.
All of these porblems can cause lopes or erratic idle.
You could have a clogged fuel filter, if you haven't changed it in awhile. You could have a leak in the intake system somwhere also. When you slow down, you get less power to the engine. It may need spark plugs and wires as well, if in need for a tune up.
So did you do all this to fix the loping or the loping came after the repairs? you have a 4cyl or v6??? Find someone with a scanner to check the PIDS.(scanner data)
In this case having the check-engine light is a good thing. Take the car to AutoZone and have them scan the computer for codes - they do it for free, whereas a shop will charge up to an hour's labor. Have them give you a printout of the codes, and post them here as a comment/reply. I can help you define them and see what needs to be done.
