the common prob with renault is crankshaft position sensor its cheap easy fix its located above flywheel where engine and gearbox join 1 connector and 2 11mm headed bolts to remove. change that first
this is a common fault for Renault scenics.its the central locking/immobiliser system, and would you believe it, as the fault is intermitant(sometimes it shows, sometimes not)you will need to let the garage drive it around for a WEEK OR TWO so that they can put the diagnostic computer on everytime they turn it off.the last one i did took a MONTH.(swopped cars with the customer she drove mine,i drove hers).she now never locks it.with the remote.
Yes on the left hand side there is a black pin that sticks through, this locks the cap when you use the central locking, they sieze up often, get some wd40 and keep spraying it into the part where the pin is located you may not be able to see it but keep spraying dont be shy with it, use plenty. whilst you are doing that keep pressing the remote locking on and off, repeat this and also push the fuel flap in slightly to ease the pressure off the black switch, it should open after a little while. very common, once open ensure that the pin switch is well oiled as when they brake they are a nightmare to replace.
Your not going to like this but it sounds like you have a problem with your ECM, Electronic Control Module. This is not something you will be able to repair unless you have a detailed work station to remove the Sealing compound that surrounds the modules control board.
hi mate, just bought my mum one with the same prob..drop down the rear seats, spray some wd40 into the black latch cover on the latch inside, work the central locking locking a few times untill it frees, when open remove latch and clean to ensure no further siezing, regards craig
