Water is getting into the passenger footwell of my Renault Scenic RX4. Enough to soak the carpeting and have water sloshing around. Can't find any problems with the seals around the windscreen, or any moisture on the inside, dashboard etc. It seems to come in from around the heater and can sometimes be heard sloshing around before it drips through onto the floor - especially the first time I drive it after a heavy rainfall.
It sounds like you may have a blocked drain in the evaporator box. This is where the heater core and evaporator are located.
If you look under the vehicle about where the heater is located, you should see a small tube sticking down ( plastic or rubber ) this should be he drain.
You can squeese the tube open and see if it will drain, If not it may be clogged up with dirt and debris that may require the box to be removed and cleaned.
Check the air inlet, usually located in front of the windsheild, just under the wipers for debris. Keep this area clear. If it has a lot of leaves or other things around it, it can cause water to build up and flood the evaporator box, as well as get down inside.
You may need to take this to a shop that can put it on a lift and get at the drain from the underside, they may be able to clear it without too much troble
Try blowing air into ur a/c evaporator drain tube. it may be clogged. also.taste the fluid . if it is sweet it may be coolant comeing from a leaking heater core

Thanks Fred & Dr Greg ... I think I've found the problem, and neither of you were too far off the mark !!
The water has been running down the windscreen and into the corner where it is meant to drain out of a hole in the wheel arch (- just underneath the bonnet hinge, beneath the plastic that covers the heater air inlet). The flap that covers the drain hole doesn't take much to get caught. The water then builds up and it looks like it goes down the air inlet. The front shock post was also water-logged (- even though it has a tight cover !) so I had to give that a fair bit of drying out and cleaning up too ...
Fingers crossed that this sorts it all out.
BTW - I thought it was the A/C at first, but the water comes in way too quickly for such a small system ... and the drain hole wasn't blocked either, as it happens !!
