’87 F-150 5.0 stalled-won’t restart.Fuel problem. Electric is fine, spark at the plugs. Starts immediately with every shot of starter fluid but dies in seconds as the fluid is used up. The last time it did this, I shorted the fuel shutoff inertia switch and it has run perfectly until this time when the inertia switch has no effect. There is the sound of a relay when starting and stopping the starter. The sound is coming from the high pressure fuel pump. But this fuel pump is not running. Is the fuel pump the problem or are there more safety switches to check? Ideas?
Is the fuel pump inside the fuel tank? If, so, you could try disconnecting the wire harness at the tank, and hot-wiring the fuel pump directly to a 12 volt source, in the correct polarity of course! If the pump runs, your problem may be a fuel pump relay, or a wire problem or connector problem. If the pump does NOT run, post that info. There may be a way around the problem!

good old ford lol, try looking at the crank sensor its located at the front of the engine tucked in right hand side of exhaust manifold and gearbox, two pin plug, i have also known these to have no end of faults with the fusebox.
easy to remove, and solder the connections inside they all suffer eventually, if your not to handy with cars i recommend taking to a auto electrician, easy if you know how. Good luck Davelee
SOURCE: no start
