3.6L Engine

Remove the heater hoses.
-
Remove the throttle body.
-
Remove the radiator water pipe outlet.
-
Remove the thermostat and housing.
NOTE
The thermostat and housing are replaced as a complete unit.

To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the housing bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
3.8L Engine
-
Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
-
Partially drain the cooling system.
-
Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet housing.
-
Reposition the wiring harness from the water outlet housing stud.
-
Remove the water outlet housing bolt and the stud.
-
Remove the water outlet housing and the gasket.
-
Remove the thermostat.
-
Clean and Inspect the water outlet housing gasket mating surfaces.
To install:
-
Install the thermostat.
-
Install the gasket and the water outlet housing.
-
Install the water outlet housing bolt and the stud to the water outlet housing and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

Install the wiring harness to the water outlet housing stud.
-
Install the radiator inlet hose to the water outlet housing.
-
Fill the cooling system.
-
Install the fuel injector sight shield.
