Remove the door card and carefully peel back the water resistant membrane and using a good light examine the internal lock/latch mechanism.

You will need to use the key fob .. Click unlock twice and if it is the child lock you will have to pop it open from the outside. Other wise you will have to go to the dealer or possibly a tow company if the lock malfunctioned. They will need to pick it with a slim jim. I would probably use the dealer cause if it is broken on the inside that is going to put you a step ahead.

How do i remove the inside rear door panel on a 2008 infiniti fx-35

If it opens from the outside, check on the door itself near the latch assembly for a little black lever that moves back and forth...that is the child safety rear door lock and when engaged, wont allow the door to open from the inside...setting the lever to free position should allow door to open (pg 3-5 of owners manual)

Why wont the rear door open on my 2009 gmc acadia

from inside or outside ? if won't open from inside your child safety lock is probably tripped. if won't open from outside you probably have a lock rod that popped off inside the door, in which I would have the dealer fix it, it involves taking door pad off and when you can't open door to take pad off ,most of the time it damages it.

You might be able to get the top part of the cover off but I don't know haw much room there will be to get at the latch. You will have to be careful so as not to damage the cover.
