I replaced the LF drive axle on my 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 4WD. Now the ABS light is on. How do I turn it off?

I havent found any sensor wires, nor sensors on any wheels. Even so, I dont think I damaged anything. I did replace the brake rotor. I've driven the truck for many miles and the light remains on and I can hear the anti-locks trying to engage.

I examined the wiring like the tech said to do. I went further and removed the speed sensor. I found too much grease on the teeth and the sensor. I cleaned the grease off them using contact cleaner and all is fine now. Thanks.

As I stated in my response to the question of how it was fixed: I examined the wiring, found it to be fine. I removed the sensor and found the teeth and sensor tip had grease on them. I ran a rag covered screw driver down and cleaned the teeth, wiped off the sensor contact area and all is fine. The light went off seconds after I started it back up. Thanks for your help. Morey

I have never seen or heard of an abs system that does not use wheel sensors. The sensor reads the trigger wheel on the wheel end of the driveshaft, so it need to be located where it can do that. it is connected to the system by a single wire. Look carefully and you will find it.

Make sure you didn't damage the sensor or sensor wire while working on the axle.

Driving a small distance should reset it, but first check that no damage was done to sensor or sensor wheel on axle.

My ABS anti-lock comes on as I drive away. When I start to stop and come to a stop it turns off.I have a 1995 GMC 2500 Sierra SL.

Well, it could mean that the emergency brake has not been fully released. The ABS system light is on if something has occurred within the ABS system. Something faulty may have happened there, get it checked out!

I have a GMC Sierra 2500 with 4_wheel drive. I

Not sure if this year was a sealed hub like newer ones bt the process is the same. You need to take off the brake caliper, take off the caliber mount to the axle, then the rotor should come off. May be able to remove the stud now but if not, will probably have to remove the hub. It is bolted on to the axle with 4 bolts usually. Need to pop the cap off of the outside of the hub to access the nut holding the front axle shaft to the hub. It is splined shaft that is not pressed on. By tapping the end (lightly on the threaded end) and pulling out the hub will usually release it. Good luck!

4 wheel drive will not engage on my 1989 gmc sierra 2500?

actually that first soultion is wrong it is correct on smaller pickups but on the full size pick ups they use a differnet sytem
there a electric actuator on front axle
there be two elctrical plugs on front axle u want the bigger of the two other one is just to turn the 4 wheel drive light on
un plug actuator then remove actuator after it removed plug it back in but leave it out of axle turn key on and shift down to 4 wheel drive the actuator should move out if it dont that your problem if i does move this isnt your problem it either the tranfer case or in front axle

Bad front wheelbearing 2006 gmc sierra 1/2 ton pickup

Not too bad. Just break down the Hub and pull it out. You might need a big socket. Go get a chilton's manual, it will help you if you don't understand it.
