Put your key in the ignition, turn it on and then off 3 times withing 5 seconds, do not actually start the vehicle doing this. after doing this the check engine light will blink a diagnostic code in sequence. a slight pause between blinking is the indictaion that the next number is going to blink, some codes will look like this, blinks 1 time and pause, blinks 4 times then no more. the code for this would be 14, you will then have to look up the engine codes for your make and model of vehicle to see what the computer in your vehicle has to say what is wrong. when you retrieve the code write down what the code says and then call a mechanic to get further information on how easy it is to fix.

This usually happens when the crank or the cam sensor starts to go bad. The crank sensor will get hot and shut the spark off to the plugs. When it cools it will start up again untill it is completely no good. I would replace the crank sensor.
Hi Andrew, I'll try my best to help but this can be a lot of things on your car that can cause this problem, but from experience with working on Intrepids with dieing problems. I would tell you to replace the CAM and Crank Sensors and see what happens. In no means I'm I telling you this will fix your problem, but is what I have ran across more than anything else causing dieing problems. It could be the PCM, Coil Pack, or even something else bringing down the BUS circuit. BUT, I'm just saying if it was my vehicle thats where I would start. The CAM and CRANK both and see what happens. Hope this helps and have a awesome day Andrew!
Fuel evaporator system, most likely your charcoal cartridge needs replacement, this vents the gas tank system and will cause the car to not start or surge after you fill the tank completely, try not to fill the car up all the way and see what happens
no stumbling first? sounds ignition related check all the plug ins on ign system I assume it always starts right back up ok? sounds like either crank or cam sensor,if I had to guess it would be crank first but next time it dies try restarting right away without shutting key off first and let the engine crank for about 30-40 sec if it don;t start it should set a dtc which will tell you either crank or cam sensor but it will start happening more often until one day it just wont restart again.
the problem must be with the batteries. check the voltage levels of the battery using a voltmeter. if it goes lower that 10v and fast dying, then replace them. and also check the alternator charging the battery for any charging problem.
