My 2003 Ford Focus SE wagon will not start when hot, i.e. 25 minutes of driving w/ AC on a 90+ degree day. The engine turns over readily but it won't continue to run unless I stomp on the gas pedal. It's as though the throttle is stuck too low or fuel is restricted. I had the dealer look over the car including fuel pump to no avail. They had the car for 2 days trying to re-create the problem. I suspect this is an electrical problem due to an aging connection or small crack. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dave in CT

could be the altranator, this would cause all electric to not work. If you can jump start it, use a volt meter to check the battery volts should be above 14 volts running battery should test 12 volts.

It depends on the bolt type.
6pt bolt head (m11) - 1st 35 ft-lb, 2nd 50 then 3rd 65. warm engine and re-check at 65. After 1000 miles turn 90-degrees.
12pt (m12) 1st 29 lb-ft, 2nd 43, 3rd turn 90-degrees, 4th turn 90-degrees, warm engine and turn another 90-degrees. After 1000 miles turn ANOTHER 90-degrees.

Q: Temp starts to climb by how much? If the vehicle interior is hot"over 90" , keep in mind the heat in the vehicle is being absorbed by the a/c and carrued out to the "condensor" in front of the engine radiator. Engine temp should be expected to climb somewhat. As the interior cools down the less heat is taken to the font and forced through the engine radiator. It should peak out ,then staer deopping or stabilize. On initial entry of vehicle on hot days it would help to open the windows for a mile or so to purge excessive heat from passenger compartmentw/AC OFF. OUTSIDE CAN BE 90 AND THE INTERIOR OF A CLOSED UP VEHICLE CAN CLIMB TO 120 DEGREES + mID 80'S IS HANDLED WITH GREATER EASE FOR A COMBINATION OF TECHNICAL REASONS OF WHICH WOULD BORE YOU.It sounds like all is well so be cool(pun) and don't waist money chasing a ghost. Happy trails. Oh, The auxillary fan is good to speeds up to 35 mph. Above 35 the forced air from the vehcle speed does the fans job.
