My 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt 3.8 ltr.isn't running right.

My 1997 Grand Prix Gt 3.8ltr.runs good for awhile then it will start boggin like it is out of gas, then it will die when I slow down to turn the corner or come to a complete stop.It will start back up and die.But it will run and go if I two foot it,as in one foot on the gas and the other one on the brake. Then when it idles in park the engine will rev up and then bog down like it is going to die, but it doesn't die,it will do that about 3 or 4 times, then it will start running great again. It has been doing this for about a week and a half. What is wrong with it,could it be from bad or watered down gas?I changed the fuel filter and the oil pressure switch,I have even put a bottle of heet in the gas.

Idisconected my battery for water pump have after market radio didnt think it would be a prob. but it turns over and will not start it has built in alarm and indicator light flashes rapid is there a way...

Insert ignition key, turn forwards to run. Just till red lights & theft/alarm light goes on. Do not try to start or engage starter.Leave on till light stops flashing. It may take up to 10 minutes. Once light stops flashing turn key off. Then start car & let run for awhile.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT; Elec problem with fan

Replace the blower resistor that is mounted next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the vehicle.
This will restore correct blower operation and I suspect it is also back-feeding voltage resulting in your electrical issues.
Two screws hold the blower resistor into the heater case and it is very easy to replace.
Good luck

1997 Grand Prix GT.new3800 and fuel pump, spark and gas, nofire!

Hello! When you swapped the engine, did you have the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) from the new motor as well? If not - you will need to have a "CASE" learn run on the PCM that you're currently using (the one from your previous engine). Important note: the 1997 Grand Prix GT's and GTP's have quite a few differences from the 98-03's. The CASE procedure is run using the Tech II tool and can be done at any dealership in about 10 minutes. If they aren't sure what that is, suggest to them that they follow the procedure for DTC 1336 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Not Learned. :)

Hope this helps and good luck!

97' Pontiac Gran Prix Won't Stay running

Known GTP problem.

You most likely have a bad fuel pump resistor, which controls 2 speeds of the fuel pump.

To check to see if this is the problem, there is a trick you can do and its very easy to do. Go to the attached link, and bend the tab my finger is pointing at and then plug it back in. If your car starts and runs fine, well we just solved the problem.
