Engine overheats...need diagrem for oil pan. Put 4 qts. of oil in 1 hr., still not registering on the dip stick...also, about 2 gallons of water to the radiator at the same time.

limited info generic answer -unknown model -engine --well every type of fluid fluid is at the back of engine going with a full size 1 - coolant heater hoses..overflow tank.. 2 oil valve covers..main seal ..dip stick..oil filter--pan ---3 trans trans lines -pan-torque conv-dip stick--4 brakes master cylinder--lines-- determine what color then check around that component

1. Turn off engine ,
2. Take of oil cap on engine
3. Put in a little oil in oil filler hole of engine.
4. then pull out the oil dip stick from engine
5. and clean the dip stick on a rag.
6. Put dip stick back in engine
7. pull out again and check the level showing on the dip Stick
8. If level is too low on dip stick and is not at full level go back to step 1

These steps ensures you avoid over filling the engine with oil

Tip for beginners
The 4 litre oil bottle is way too much oil for an engine to handle.
If you have a full 4 litre oil plastic bottle square shape . hold the bottle on its side to pour the oil out slowly and smoothly.

valve cover gaskets front and rear seals pcv valve oil pan gasket and oil filter o rings can all attribute to this

Hi, your 1999 Hyundai Accent will need about 3.5 - 4 quarts of 5w30 Motor oil.

I just bought a 2005 envoy too. I read in the manual that the 4.6 6 cyl engine needs 7 qts total. 2 Over the normal oil change. Is it possible it wasn't low to start? I noticed when Walmart changed the oil they charged extra for the change because it needed the two extra qts. However my dip stick has oil over the full mark. Seemed strange but I haven't had any leaks and after 3k mile no change in level. Make sure you had the correct about the first time.

it will take 3.1/2 litres of oil, i will let you work out what 5 qts is....but after you put in the oil run the engine for 30 secs then stop and wait a couple of mins to drain,then dip.....

Drive car on ramps or 2 2x12s reach behind oil pan remove bolt drain hot oil from car that has just been driven.into pan. When oil is just dripping very slow say 15 min replace plug. Now just behind front bumper next to engine is an oil filter remove it with an oil filter wrench. Make sure the gasket came off with the filter or just reach up with a clean rag and wipe the housing it will fall off if you touch it. Put oil on gasket of new filter and screw it on when the gasket touches the housing go 3/4 s of a turn more. Put in about 5-1/2 to6 quarts of 10w 30 oil. Start engine for a min ck for leaks shut off and ck dip stick and make sure it reads full after sitting 5 min or so to let oil dip down into pan

2.0L - 3.7 quarts.
2.5L - 4.2 quarts.

Depending on the size of the engine, 4 to 5 qts. with filter. Put in 4qts. then check it, might take 4 1/2 qts.

most only take 5 qt put in 4 and check the dip stick if it is on full run the engine for a min and let it stand for a bit recheck and add what you need to full mark
