1. Simple answer...you may be low on antifreeze or water in the radiator. Add some to fill it up, and try again. DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP HOT!!! Add to the overflow reservoir.

2. Check the manual lever is still moving the flapper/air blend door on your heater under the dash.

3. It could be worse, if the heater core is plugged.

One of 2 things could be happening. #1, the valve that allows coolant to circulate thru the heater core is not functioning. #2 the door that is actuated to allow cabin air to circulate around the heater core is not functioning properly. Possible causes, linkage to the valve, or actuator not working. Also a broken valve to the heater core. A vacuum leak, or faulty actuator would cause the door not to function. You can narrow down the problem somewhat by making sure that both heater hoses have hot coolant in them. You can do this by simply feeling the hoses. If they are both circulating hot coolant, then the problem is the misdirection of air flow. To repair this, the cause will have to be diagnosed, could be anything from your dash mounted controls to an issue with vacuum or the ductwork or the door or actuator. If not in the controls, the dash may have to come out. Good Luck, I hope this is helpful!

The blend door is stuck in cold position. That usually happens because the blend door actuator has failed.

You will need to test and replace the blend door actuator.

To replace the actuator you will need to take apart the dash and remove completely the instrument panel,d isconnect the connector, remove the four screws, remove the temperature blend door actuator and replace it.

The replacement is not a job for beginners, since you have to take apart the dash to access the actuator.

Regards.

check under the dash to see if the cable that controls the flap that directs the flow has slid, or become loose, turn the selection switch ( its best if you have someone do it while you watch under the dash,, ) once you see which one it is,, make sure its moving all the way , on this setting it should totally close off one area, adjust as necessary

Heater blows, but does'nt get hot

Heater core! Check for air in the cooling system. If air is trapped in the heater core, then it will not get hot.

The heat in the car doesn't turn to hot air until

The antifreeze goes into the cooling system through the cap the same way you'd fill the system during normal car maintenance. You may have another issue as well. There is usually a vacuum or electrically operated shut off valve in line in the heater hoses. Its typically located on the passenger's side close to the firewall under the hood. Its purpose is to keep hot antifreeze from flowing into the heater core when the air conditioning is on. If this valve, a temp sending unit that works in conjunction with this valve or the climate control or a break in the electrical circuit or vacuum line or valve isn't working properly, the symptoms that you describe could and likely would arise. You can usually move this valve open or closed manually to test. Check and repair or replace accordingly if low antifreeze doesn't rectify the problem. Good luck!

My 2003 Grand Marquis blows warm to hot air out even if I put it on a/c automatic or vent?

your blend door is not working properly, common on Fords-you can manually close it for cold air, or it can be repaired with an upgraded arm that is stronger and less prone to breakage.

No heat or air barely enough to keep front windshield defrosted

If engine temp is not at normal, change thermostat. If it is, check for trapped air in system.
with cold engine, loosen radiator cap & stART ENGINE, RUN TILL UPPER HOSE GETS HOT (meaning thermostat has opened), then see if air burps out of cap. Shut off engine and keep rad full as engine cools down.thighten cap & keep reservoir full.

Did upper hose get hot?

My air works fine, but my heat is not working, all I get is cold air, I've changed the thermostat and flushed out the heater core but still no heat, what could be the problem

vacuum line not closing the flapper door or the heater control valve may be bad check the hoses and see if both are hot where they enter and exit the heater core

1998 grand marquis hot air. no cool air

try this - turn on the a/c. Disconnect the 2pin wiring connector from the a/c accumulator Small tank, looks like a thermos bottle.
Using a iwre or paper clip, jumper between the 2 pins in the connector. If the compressor clutch clicks and engages, it means you are low on freon.
