Check the brake switch, located on the break pedal. Connect the 2 wires together and if the break lights work, a new switch is required.(if only 1 wire connect to frame/chassis)

06 Citroen Relay.number plate lights do not work tried new bulbs still not working.Advise? advise is Tailgate wiring issues could cause that.Is a common fault? repair? Does wiring loom need replacing?

hi Richard
yes wiring could be the problem but your wiring loom should not need replacing may only need repair, check your lic. plate bulb socket for power with the running lights on / check wire from bulb to left/right side for cracks in the insulation of the wire (looking for any shorts)
the lic. plate lights get power from the tail lights (running lights) if your running lights are not working also u may have a blown fuse
if not look for a brake/cut in the wire going from the tail lights to
lic. plate light sockets.

Hi, on my 1999 Taurus wagon, I lost all power to tailgate hatch- reverse lights, license plate light, top brake light. What, most likely happened?

If you haven't already check fuses. If fuses are good. My guess would be brake light switch. IT'S a little box at the top of the brake pedal behind the dash. Try replacing it.

My 1998 ford escort wagon keeps blowing the brake light fuse when brand pedai is depressed, have already changed the brake pedai switch.

In order to blow the fuse, you must have a short circuit to ground somewhere between the output of the stop light switch and the stop lights in the rear of the car. You will need to isolate these lamps to determine where the short is. If a were a betting man, I'd say the best bet is that the short may well be in the tailgate where the wire come from the body into the tailgate. This is usually near a hinge (the center stop light is in the tailgate). Since these wires move every time you open and close the hatch, they are more likely to beak and short out.

I have a 51 plate ford focus estate, the rear brake lights dont work although the high level one does,i`ve checked fuse and bulbs etc. any clues

If bulbs are definetly ok you can look behind trim on the left side in the boot, which covers the space between the boot floor and the window, you are looking for a green/red wire in a connector. this is the power cable which supplies both rear side mounted brake lights. You should check for voltage at this wire when pedal depressed. If no voltage you would need to trace this back to where the wire is joined in the loom as it feeds off the wire which supplies the high mounted brake light and you have stated that this works. Would still double check bulbs first though if you did'nt replace them. Hope this helps.

I actually have three issues electrically with my 2005 Envoy XUV. The most important one is the running lights. First the running light feed to the trailer connection ( factory installed ) fed no power to...

1) Look for fuse 32 in underhood fuse panel, I believe this is for trailer lights. 50 & 51 are for R and L trailer brake.
2) The blower resistor pack is defective, this is located behind the glovebox and mounted to the blower body.
3) I have no solution for tailgate problem, suggest visiting Trailvoy.com forum and doing search on XUV tailgate.

2004 Landrover Freelander stop/reverse light fuse keeps blowing

I had a persistent problem of hill light warning and TCS warning lights coming on for no apparent reason. There is a wire connection between the stop light switch and the control unit to let the system know when brakes are being applied. Changing the stop light switch cured it. The replaced switch was certainly sticking and the new one was of a different design. Replaced it myself as switch comes with a wiring loom. Need to get on your back under the steering wheel! Not very expensive. My car 2001 TD4

Audi a3 rear brake light fault

the dealer can fix this or any mechanic with a vag com interface, basically its a matter of programing the tailgate lights (both of them) to work as brake lights. the euro speck enables one of the other or both, same goes for the backup light. if you had a module replaced recently this could be the reason for the change, whoever installed it should be able to rectify this for you.
