SOURCE: shifter knob removal

the shift knob is glued and pressed on, the best way to remove it intact is to heat the knob with a heat gun and pull straight up with a lot of force, please be very careful because when the knob finally releases there is very good chance that you can hit yourself in the face, if the knob is not to be used again you cut a **** up the side with a dremal tool,

SOURCE: 2003 ford thunderbird how do you remove inner door panel?

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

Brake sensor. It tells transmission, brake is depressed and allows you to shift out of park. Or check with diagnostic computer, free at some major retailers. Most likely a sensor, if not transmission may be bad.

Removing shift knob 2002 hyundai accent

I don't know if you are asking a question or making a statement.
If you are asking how to remove the shifter nob on your vehicle then knowing if it is auto or manual would be nice. Without knowing that its hard to give advice if its manual then you pull a metal ringed sleeve down and remove three little screws which hold the shifter to the shaft. The nob will slide off after removal of the three screws. If you have a automatic transmission then removing that nob is a little more difficult.

How do i remove the center console from a 1997 thunderbird

CENTER CONSOLE- Disconnect the battery cables to disable air bag. Wait two minutes before working around steering column, instrument panel or impact sensors. 1. Open console lid and remove the two screws you see toward the front. 2. remove the shift lever knob 3. Rotate the rear of the panel forward, disconnect the electrical connectors, then detach the clips at the front edge by pulling upward. Now panel is free to remove it.

Have a 1997 ford thunderbird lx....v-6...3.8...it is stuck in park, cannot shift out of park...is there a shift-lock override button on this model? the fuses all check out o.k., but the button that needs...

no override button. if all the fuses are good, then if i remember there is a switch by the shift lever that when you step on the brake it enables you to move the shifter.good luck

Transmisson on a 3.8L automatic V6 Thunderbird problem.

Never add anything to an automatic trans but the correct fluid.
New fluid will make it slip worse
Lucas-is a waste of money and may ruin your trans.
You may get away with removing the valve body and cleaning it.
I would suggest a trans repair shop, but don't let them sell you on rebuilding yours until they try the valve body, unless the fluid is burn't,then your done, as you already should know

Transmission will not shift out of park. I pushed brake and the shifter will not move from park with the button on side of shifter pushed in.

CHECK FUSE TO BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH - NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH AND BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID.IF BRAKE LIGHTS WORKS.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID OR BAD NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH.MAKE SURE NEUTRAL SWITCH FUSE IS GOOD.

Brakes

Check the fuses in the fuse box under the hood. Then check fuseable links. Transmission in park. There is a cable that runs from the shifter under the shifter console to the shift lever on the transmission. The cable my be broken inside the cable housing just before it comes out of the housing. I repaired this same problem on a friends '89 Tbird. Be sure you align the new cable correctly.
I went to a pick-your-own-parts wrecking yard. To learn how to take it apart. To take the shifter knob off. Push in the button on the side of the knob. Then from the underside of the knob hit hard with the **** of your palm.
