That happened on my Nissan. All the replacement light bulbs have the be the required wattage. Check for a burnt bulb, that changes the flashing rate on some cars. The flasher if not OEM may flash at a different rate. If none of these are the problem, you may want to check the Ground resistance of the light socket.

I have a 2003 2 door explorer sport, just recently my turning signal and break light have stopped working on the passenger side!! I changed the light bulb, and nothing!! I changed the turning signal light...

No, because the left side is still working. The loose wiring was to the multifunction switch (turn signal).

Power gores through the turn signal switch to the brake switch on the brake pedal, then to the rear lights. Does the highmount brake lamp work?
At the RH lamp socket, Measure the voltage between the RH rear lamp C4032 pin 3, circuit 5 (OG/LB), harness side and ground. Should be 12 volts.

try that first.

Did you change the front and rear bulbs?

Signal lights, fuse box and signal light relay in 2001 Volkswagen

The bulbs on these cars can be delicate. Some get replaced every year or so-( headlights, tail and brake) and some I've never touched in 8 years (my front turn signals and marker lights)

The fast blinking occurance is normal when a turn signal bulb goes out.

The rear lights are common to blow, I keep spares in the glovebox.

Make sure you were given the correct bulb, check to see that it works and isn't defective. Also there is an empty spot in the rear bulb holder- make sure you didn't mistakenly pop a bulb in there cause' it won't work.

The front right signal light is in the right headlight housing. Open the hood and on the back of the housing there are two plastic caps. One is curved and one is rectangular- you want to take off the rectangular one.

Open the drivers door and on the side of the dash there's a cover. This is the main fuse block. Use a coin or carefully with a screwdriver pry it open. To check a fuse pull it out, noting exactly where it came from, and visually inspect it to see if it is blown.

Fuse # 2- turn signal system
Fuse #4- License plate lights
Fuse #7- back up lights
Fuse #13- brake lights
Fuse #22- parking and side marker lights, right
Fuse #23- parking and side marker lights, left

The turn signal flasher is integrated into the hazzard button in the center of the dash. If all else is good and you suspect the flasher is bad, which is a good possibility, call a VW dealer and have them run your VIN# to check for recalls. The hazzard switch for some cars around your year had a recall on em'.

Headlight, brake lights and radio light is out.

An over charging condition can burn out bulbs. Are the turn signals flashing faster than normal? Either way I would have the generator voltage checked. You acan do this with a simple volt meter accross the battery with the engine running but have somone hold the throttl open just off idle for the test. Also you can check in with Advance Auto parts or others, they will check your charging sytem for you for free I think.

Good luck
