If its adjustable you may be able to loosen it turn it until you reach specs if not then I would have to say there's an issue there. Make sure the throttle bady is clean and that there isn't carbon build up keeping the throttle plate slightly open.
Real simple raise the car in the rear the fuel filter is under the car by the gas tank you should need a 5/8 and a 13/16 wrench and a 10mm or 1/2 in socket be sure to hold filter to avoid damage to orings on the lines

check the compression is that checks out check your spark plugs and alternator and ensure that the spark plug wires are in the correct fring order in the block and on the distributor
Bossman there is no fast or simply way of fixin this problem!! However for a temperaury solution. You can take one heater hose off under the hood at the heater coreand undo the other one at the intake then connect the hoses coming out of the heater core to itself so nothing gets inside the heater core and do the same with the intake so that you dont have a mess!! To fix your problem you are going to have to remove your dash back and undo the heater box to get to the heater core!!
