Electrical/Battery Light In my 2006 Ford Five Hundred, the battery light suddenly came on today while I was driving and seems to go on and off by itself. I found a TSB related to this light coming on but there is no info associated with it. Any help?

Hi,I am Ron,Look at the alternator out put voltage, and have the battery load tested. Also check bad connection from battery to alternator(this is the large wire/cable).alternator turns the battery light on,why? You need to figure out witch one.A diode could be going out in the alternator, diodes change ac voltage to dc voltage ,that`s why the call it a alternator(alternating current)AC voltage means alternating current. If it goes unrepaired it can ruin battery, changing battery voltage from 12 volts dc to 12 volts ac.Also there is a built in voltage regulator that holds voltage down to about 14 volts charging while car is running.Voltage regulators can cut off charging completley or open wide allowing alternator to charge as much as 18 volts dc,ruining battery(boiling battery acid out of battery)and ruining alternator by burning fields and rectifiers out.So have it checked or do it your self.Auto parts stores can check alternator and battery. If I can be of more help, please [email protected]

You'll need the electrical wiring diagram for that. You can also buy a universal harness where you bought your sterio with the adapter kit.

Ford Five Hundred head lights and dash lights are flashing.

I would check battery voltage with a meter when the lights are flashing to check alternator output. Might be a ground problem.

While driving the speedometer, the brake light and the abs light comes on the speedometer stop working on my 2006 five hundred

I had this same problem with my 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The instrument gauges would all fail and go to zero for a few seconds and then come back on as if nothing happened. During this issue, the reverse lights and "idiot lights" would also come on.

Everyone told me it was bad cluster gauges, so I replaced them and it was not the problem.

There were several cracked/broken wires leading from the main computer of the vehicle to the charging system. The delearship found the broken wires and it cost me $ 190.00 to have it fixed and the car now runs great, no more failure of the gauges.

Surging and Gauges zeroing out during operation

You might want to go to a electrical shop to have your car hooked up and have it tested for either a short or a loose or bad wire or connection.

2006 Ford Five Hundred traction control light on all the time.

This is a computerized traction control system that monitors the wheel spin and makes split second adjustments... if the light is on, Ford recommends servicing the system. I'd check with a local non-dealer mechanic that may be able to help you out cheaper than a dealer first.
