My guess you never scanned the PCM first to see truth?
sure. my guess 2 is you only see lamps reverse dead x2.
right>?
depends on 2 things, what engine is there and what trans is there.
they usually match, engine for trans, so.....????
is it stick shift or auto... must we guess this, ok, Ill guess auto.
sigh. The stick shift switch btw is on right center of case. just behind the fill level plug.

A/T automatic answer.
USA 02 liberty.?
KJ jeep.
most of ours are 45RFE box.
is your is , then
IS FUSE JB 39 BLOWN, THAT BE FIRST, RIGHT?
this trans as TRS , valve body, and the above post is wrong.
the TRS is deep inside the transmission.
page 21-169 in the the USA jeep FSM manual not BS .

the books says.
"A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set if the
TCM senses any switch open or closed at the wrong
time in a given gear." means scan it FIRST.
IVE ANSWERED THIS BEFORE, VAST TIMES.
search much.

location of back up light switch for 2002 jeep lib - 26288203-3ub3qkuug2p3y0mj4fqyuh53-3-0.jpg

26288203-3ub3qkuug2p3y0mj4fqyuh53-3-1.jpg there you go, the location of TRS conn, #3 above.
the logic of TRS in photo 2,
and the schematic, left side on photo 3 is A/t box.
if both lamps are dead,. the PCM tells you why,
lamps good
fuse good
scan tell you what?
and last bad TRS.

The switch is on the outside of the transmission case. See a photo of it below. It may have a short lead on it or the harness plugs directly in.

Back up lights not working

If its not the bulbs then may have to check the wiring to the switch or the switch itself located on the transmission. Also check the wires heading to the lamps to rule those out

No brake lights

Check the brake light switch. It should be located under the dash by the arm of the brake pedal. When you push the pedal down with your foot it activates the switch. The switch can be tested with an ohm meter or multimeter. If defective, it will need to be replaced. Hope this helped and good luck.

2002 Jeep Liberty headlights blink

I have the same problem. I had it when I turned on my Blinker and turned. When the switch in the steering wheel turn the blinker off it made my head lights blink sometimes. It has to do with the switch that controls the blinker and the head lights. It does not happen all the time.

2002 jeep liberty speed sensor

Jeep Liberty 2002 woahs !
by porth21 - 2/1/09 7:35 AM In reply to: Jeep Liberty 2002 speedometer not working by Dannywon
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited with the same problem. The main problem I have found to be the routing of the speed sensor wires located on the rear difrential. They are 2 blue wires on my jeep and probably the same on yours. The problem is that they rub on the E-brake cable and once the wire is exposed they short and the speedometer and any other options running off they speed sensor quit working and that includes the tranny shift points and can cause the torque converter to not unlock and cause stalls. I am having the same problem for the third time and chrysler and jeep are both aware of the problem and unwilling to repair the problem or post a recall.
