My kia sedona acts like it is starving for fuel when going up a hill or when i accelerate now the fuel light is coming on and it jerks around when going up a hill what is this?

vehicle went into imp mode need to have scanned for trouble code[s] since anything can be problem

Does the check engine light come on? Sounds like a bad ingition coil or starving for gas. Check fuel filter and coils first.

Do you notice any check engine lights coming on the dash when this happens, also has the vehicle had any recent repairs or any reason why this may be happening? Any input from you is helpful. I will check my resources and see what we can find out. Please advise

Most likely fouled spark plugs, to see if it's a problem with the transmission shifting you can manually choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd anytime you want to test them

If the jerking happens under load (accelerating on the highway, going up a hill), it could be your fuel pump, but more likely your fuel FILTER.
If the jerking happens at higher RPM, it is more likely a misfire from a bad spark plug wire, fouled spark plug, or bad coil pack,
If you notice a smell of raw fuel when the vehicle is idling, make sure that your air filter is clean.
If the "Check Engine" light is on, have a local auto parts store connect an ODB sensor to determine what code is being generated.

The gas smell may be from filling the gas tank too much. When filling tank, do not over fill tank. when the fuel nozzle clicks off the first time do not add more fuel. It will back fill into the emission evaporator canister and therefor smell like gas fumes until the fuel tank get's lower. on a hill the gas in the tank may flow into the opening of the evaporation canister. I have had this happen and thought it was a leaking fuel line. Don't over fill Fuel Tank...

I would check the fuel pressure and replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced for awhile. The last 2 fuel filters I changed, the gas coming out of it looked like black ink.

SOUNDS LIKE A CATALYTIC CONVERTER.... BUT GO TO YOUR LOCAL AUTO ZONE OR YOUR PERSONAL MECHANIC AND HAVE HIM DO A OBD SCAN IT WOULD TELL YOU ALL THE DEALER FAULT CODES.... AUTO ZONE IS FREE LOCAL MECHANIC AT LEAST $250 FOR A 10 MINUTE PROCESS

Drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump. Filter is attached to the fuel pump. Sounds like the fuel pump is failing.

When was last time plugs & wires checked or replaced, as well as fuel filter.
