SOURCE: torque converter circuit

There is a simple fix... you can unplug it ( a shop can do that in about 1 minute or less.)
It has to be taken apart(transmission) to install a new module.. Unplugging it will get rid of the OVERdrive function.. meaning a little higher RPM at highway speeds.. but will be cheaper than a 1500+$$ job of removal and repair....

youll have to take it to a transmission shop to change the torque converter lockup switch because you'll have to remove the valve body on the transmission to get to it

I took out transmission last night, 2001 eclipse 3.0. Torque converter seems to be stuck on flex plate. yes I removed the 4 Tc bolts from back of flywheel

the torque converter nose /center actually fits into the recess in the end of the crankshaft so you may have to use a lever to break it free from that point

How to remove the engine from the torque convertor on a Ford 345C Skip Loader?

When removing an engine from any automatic box the best tip is to remove the bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate/flywheel and leave the torque converter in position on the shaft in the front of the box. It will move back to the box enough to separate the engine . Turn the engine around to get to each bolt. If the transmission is going to be unsupported then restrain the torque converter with a plate bolted through a flange hole or a strap across the front a note here is that what you call a skip loader may be known as a skid steer loader in which case there will be no torque converter as it hooks directly to a hydraulic pump via a splined shaft.

Torque converters are bolted up to the flywheel or flexplate. Probably 4 or 6 bolts from the flywheel engine side into the torque converter.

Trying to remove transmission on 94 chevy 1500 pickup, got all the scews out but still seems to be stuck. any suggestions on its removal

Did you remove the bolts connecting the flywheel to the torque converter? The converter
slides back off the motor along with the transmission for most GM's.
Also there should be two alignment dowels which protrude approximately 3/4 inch off
the back of the block. After making sure the flywheel is disconnected, usually you can
rock the transmission (secured to a transmission jack of course) side to side to break it
free. If you need to unbolt the torque converter you can rotate the engine with a
breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley bolt. Hope this helps.

How do you change the flywheel?

Pull the transmission back (or remove) enough to access the flywheel/ torque converter. Remove the converter from the flywheel, then you will see the flywheel bolts that mount the flywheel to the crankshaft--(I think there are 6). It is advisable to replace these bolts with new ones when reinstalling the flywheel, and be sure to get the proper torque spec for the bolts from autozone or a reputable shop and torque them sequencially correct and to the proper spec.
