Do you mean that the engine shuts off when you come to a stop? If so, you need to have the throttle body cleaned, grime build up in the throttle body will cause a lean condition. This shutting off happens especially with the AC on.
may be your water pump or a hose, or your radiators broke i recomend not to run it is not a good idea or youll blown the head gasket or worst, have it check and fixed
Next time it gets hot, stop at a garage and have them check it with a computer. Most will do this for free. Could be the coolant sensor going bad. this can cause the temp to go high( not really getting hot) or keep the cooling fans from coming on. when you stop there is less load on the engine letting it cool.
SOUND LIKE ENGINE GETTING TOO HOT.CHECK THE COOLANT AND THE FAN CLUTCH.IF FAN CLUTCH HAS RESISTANCE WHEN HOT ITS GOOD.IF FAN FREE WHEELS WHEN HOT REPLACE IT.IF FAN CLUTCH GOOD THE THERMOSTAT FAULTY.RADIATOR CORES SLIGHTLY STOPPED UP. CHECK RADIATOR GRILLE MAKE SURE ITS NOT STOPPED UP WITH DEBRIS.
You need to check the heater core it has two hoses going to it feel of them if one is hot and the other cold heater core is stopped up replace it or flush it out if they are both hot it can be the switch or a vacuum line the vacuum line will be on the passenger side under the hood where the airconditioner hoses go in the body
if your car has a coil pack it could have a hair line crack and would need to be replaced this would cause the car to stop running once it get hot because when it overheats the coil pace quites allowing your spark pluges to fire which causes the car to stop running
