This light most likely needs to be cancelled on the vehicle computer at the vehicle manufacture or service specialists.

SOURCE: need to replace catalytic converter heat shield

I just took mine off to keep it from rattling, and bought a heat resistant header tape and placed the tape right over the Catalytic Converter on the body it self. Good luck and keep me posted if you have any more questions.

I just took my Hyundai 2002 Accent to get inspected. The emissions test light would not come on. Mechanic said it would have to go to the dealer to get the computer reset. Does this cost a lot?

There not exist any computer reset that correct a emission out of range. If the car is running without the check engine light comes lit ( it means if you drive the car more than 40 miles and the check engine light remains off) and the emissions are out of the range, is necessary check if the engine is operating in normal coolant temperature ( half way to the top), check if the air filter is free, check for the spark plugs are working properly, and check if the catalytic converter is at least in 13% of CO2. Also check with a scanner tool if have any engine code stored in the memory.

If your cadillac converter is bad will it cause your car to lose power all the time or only when under stress such as steep hills or taking off?

A plugged catalytic converter will cause power loss all the time, however, it will be much more noticeable under power.

Can you adjust the clutch on a 2002 hyundai accent

The clutch in this car is a hydraulic design and is self adjusting. If you have a hard pedal with high pedal engagement or a slipping condition you are going to need a new clutch installed.

Car sometimes wont start unless you spray starter fluid, just replaced filter. oem codes are p0734 and p1401

P0734 = 4th gear incorrect ratio (that's the torque converter 'lock-up' clutch - inside the converter).
P1401 = doesn't exist for 2002 Hyundai Accent's
P1401 exists for 2000 Accent = DM-TL Air Pump Motor Curent Draw is higher or lower than expected (normal is 17-36 mA). DM-TL = Diagnostic Module for Tank Leakage & is part of the Evaporative Emissions Control System.

These two DTC's are not associated/part of the Accent's Engine Managemenet System (EMS).
Best to have a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose this starting problem with your vehicle.

Have had 02 sensor changed and check engine lite still comes on, is there more than 1 - 02 sensor in my 2002 Hyundai Accent?

When you get any code,it does not tell you anything is wrong or what to replace

You use the code to diagnose the part of the system, that set the code

Most likely cause for an O2 Code, is a vacuum leak, which drives the sensor lean, and it goes out of range. Thus the code is set (Education is the Key )

You have at least two O2 sensors for every single exhaust, four or more for dual exhaust.

Your current code may be a new problem

My clutch needs changing on my 1998 hyundai accent coupe. do you have detailson how to do this or a diagram

This is a very big job. To get to the clutch the transaxle must be removed from the engine. Removing the transaxle involves removing: The exhaust pipe between the manifold and catalytic converter, the starter motor, a chassis cross member, both drive axles, and the tranmission shift linkage. Is there a highschool in your area with an autoshop class? The only other option is to have a repair shop do it. I would pay a shop to do the work. I think it's a good investment espesially if the rest of the car is in good condition. Good luck, Techjoel

No pick up after 45 mph

it could be in a limp mode which would explain it not going over 45mph even though you replaced o2 sensor you may still have to take it to maindealer to reset brain memory.
