I had the same problem with my 2003 denali and came to find out that it was the battery causing the problem. the battery with sufficient power will dictate the tps. if the battery is low or bad, it won't have enough juice to allow the tps to. work. get your battery checked.

SOURCE: display on dash reads

Is this a gas or diesel? Usually this is to protect an engine if there is a fault found by the truck's computer. It can be related to oil level, temp, or pressure. Could be related to the antifreeze. Check the levels. Also you said something about a headlight being dim. So You will need to check that Curcuit out as well. Could be related but a scan-tool would be needed to look a parameters.

It is located at the front of the engine under the crankshaft harmonic balance. Real easy to get to and replace.

Warning stating reduce engine power and something about stability

Reduced power mode is when the electronic ignition is strategically is not firing all the cylinders to prevent catastrophic failure of your engine. The reason for the GM Engineers put the reduced power mode in the vehicle is so you can drive the vehicle under 50Mph for about 50 miles to a mechanic before the vehicle completely dies.
