I bought a brand new 2014 Santa Fe Sport Luxury Edition. From the very beginning Feb 2 we notice when sitting still at a light if we are behind a car we smell the exhausts of either our car or others...i think others because if we sit alone it does not smell. It doesnt happen all the time but getting more and more. My dealer check the back vents and exhaust system and said there is no issue, they said they drove in traffic and smelled nothing...what am I to do, this morning I almost vomitted from the smell.
Are you sure is exhaust emission or a fuel smell? If is others Exhaust emission, and is coming in the cabin possible you might have ventilators not working properly,or the doors under the dashboard are kept slight open allowing the outside smell or getting inside the cabin. On the dashboard there is a circulation air button, press it to work. What that button does? Is blocking the outside air coming in and the air you are using iis the inside cabin air only. Use that button for a day and see whether you have any improvement. If so you have to go back to the dealer and explain. Surely they will help you.

If you are getting exhaust fumes in the engine compartment I advise checking the exhaust manifolds for cracks. When the engine is cold remove the heat shield from the manifold using a 12mm socket and inspect from the top and underneath for any cracking.
SOURCE: i bought a hyndai in feb tucson. i can smell the exhaust
you may have an exhaust or manifold leak somewhere test it at a local shop
Testimonial: "yes it was helpful because i spoke to a mechanic in my country and he told me the same thing i have a leak somewhere thanks"
SOURCE: When I enter the car, I smell a antifreeze/exhaust
the smell is caused by a leaking heater core inside the dash, it only takes a tiny bit of vaporized hot coolant to smell very strongly.
