2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Questions & Answers
How to increase running time
That is a very vague question... what do you mean? Do you want it to get better fuel mileage? Change driving habits, tune-up engine, properly inflate tires or even go to low friction tires and fluids/oils, remove any unneeded weight, duct-tape any seems on the front of the vehicle, avoid hills and rapid acceleration...
Really, there are many factors that can minutely help fuel mileage and/or range, but the most important factor is the driver. Sensible driving (which most people don't do) is the single greatest factor in fuel mileage. Sadly, SUVs (or any vehicle) is only going to get a certain range of fuel mileage, so don't expect more than 1-2 mpg difference.
Good luck!

Hyundai Santa Fe smoking signal switch.
Do you mean the signal / indicators switch is smoking and making crackling, arcing sounds? Yes, that can easily cause a fire, but fuses should prevent it. The fault needs immediate attention preferably by an auto-electrician rather than a mechanic.
How often do I change oil on my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited?
The general rule is a change every 12 months. Not all vehicle manufactures use a dedicated oil service light. Some use a message on the dashboard display or even the Check Engine Light. If you are in ANY doubt change it anyway! Check your oil on the dip stick and in the fill hole for the colour and, using latex work gloves, the feel of it between your fingers. Good oil should be the colour of very weak coffee and very smooth and slippery to the touch. If the oil is dark coloured, black or gritty to the touch Replace it as soon as you can! Also look out for any "mayonnaise" like build up in the filler hole. This is one of the signs of a blown head gasket.
How often you change the oil can also depend on a few other things.
-Miles driven in a year,
-How hard you drive it,
-Where in the world you live.
- Past history of the car.
If you drive a lot of miles I would suggest you change the oil every 12 months even if you don't think it needs it. Oil cleans as well as lubricates thats why it turns black over time. I use 10,000 to 12,000 miles or once a year which ever comes first as my rule.
If you do less than 5000 miles a year you could possibly stretch it to every 18 months or 2 years BUT NOT more than that.
If you drive the vehicle hard do it every 12 months no longer than that. Your giving the engine a good work out so fresh oil is always good.
If you live where it is really cold, really hot or very dry you will need to change it every 12 months every time as the extremes of temperature alter the thickness of the oil making it behave differently, (Cold - it's thicker and harder to flow, Hot - It's thinner and flows very easily).
An older car may not have been looked after properly so really old, dirty, black oil can actually damage an engine.
Dome lights don't come on
The dome lamp has a switch that can be put into several positions. "Door" "Off" and "On" If you want the light to come on when you open the door then you must have the switch in the "Door" position.
The "Off" position will only let the dome lamp work when you override it with the dash control and the "On" position will leave the light on at all times - door open or not.
