1990 Honda Civic LX-1.5 engine. No power to fuel pump and no spark from distributor. Is there anything that would cause both to go out at the same time? I've checked all fuses with voltmeter on both terminals in the box under the dash and under the hood - they have power on both terminals of each fuse. The main relay (under dash at driver's knee) only clicks 1 time instead of 3. I also have a wrecked 90 Honda Civic with same engine so I've swapped main relay, computer, and even the entire distributor with the other one to no avail. Any ideas - besides send both to scrap yard?

I can't 100% rule out the ignition switch but at least the check engine light, oil light, etc comes on when I crank the engine over. The compression is good (timing belt has less than 5,000 miles on it), spark plugs and wires have less than 500 miles on them (one spark plug wire did foul 500 miles ago). The check engine light stays on when I turn the switch on - where it used to go out after a few seconds, but no trouble codes light up on the Engine Control Computer. The Crankshaft position sensor, ignition module and coil (located in the distributor) were changed when I swapped distributors (I can't 100% rule out that the other distributor didn't go bad while sitting up after my wife wrecked the first 90 - It did work and I was able to drive the first 90 home after the wreck - just the left front tire didn't run anything like it was supposed to). The MAP sensor controls the fuel flow rate, spark timing, as well as the idle speed, but does it cut off the power to the fuel pump completely as well as the spark? I'll change it out and see.

there might be a crank sensor or cam sensor

this is what tells the ecm to send a spark and turn on the fuel pump to load up the rail or?

no dont scrap them either... its a good car just a sensor issue also the map sensor also... since you have a spare parts car lets change them all

Ignition switch?

Do you have a wiring diagram for the ignition system? Also the Map sensor won't cause no spark.

I have a 97 honda civic lx, and i can"t get it to start.can anyone help me out with what to do??

3 things make an engine start : compression wich is lost slowly and seems not the case here , fuel : take off the air filter and tube leading to the intake manifold , insert 2 table spoons of fuel and with nobody face near it start the engine , if it start and died , the problem his fuel pump , fuel pump fuse , injectors or the computer circuit and finaly spark , test the sparkplugs and coils .

How do you set the timing on a 1990 honda civic lx 1.5 liter

Depending on the distributor used, it should be set from the factory..Check to see if the bolts that mount the distributor are in slotted holes. If not, then there is no adjustment possible. If so, check underhood sticker for timing specs and procedure.

My Honda Civic 1994 cuts out as I am driving

You are going to need a new distributor. These are such a common problem that they are available, new from any auto parts store. It's possible that you may have just a bad module or coil or pick-up, but if you just replace one of these after hours of trying to pin it down, another will fail eventually. A new distributor is not that expensive and it has all of these parts inside of it.
