Smell from heat vents, dead battery and brake light

Weird smell coming from vents of 2001 Toyota Camry. Started about a week ago with an odd humid smell, similar to what you'd smell when you go to a pool, but not exactly. Smell would come and go and only when the heat was on. This morning I used my command start to warm it up, when I went to jump in to leave I noticed it didn't seem like the fan was blowing as much as it should and the dash lights looked a little dim. Then I noticed my battery light was on and the stink was pretty strong. I just put in a new alternator and battery a few months ago. Around the same time I installed the new alternator/battery, my e-brake light started coming on sporadically. If the temps were warmer it would turn off then on occasionally as I was driving. The colder it got, the more constant the light was on. Is this 3 seperate issues (battery, smell, brake light)? Or are they related?

SOURCE: Dim dashboard lights and problem starting

Could be a loose or dirty battery connection, poor battery, or alternator. Check all the cables and connections to your starter. Clean your battery posts. Have your alternator and battery checked. It sounds like you are either running off just the battery or just the alternator. One of them is not right.

Car heater blowing cold air and rubber burnning

If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine

You can't charge a dead battery with a dead battery. The alternator needs power in order to generate power. So you jump and it starts, but because the battery has little to no power, you're getting little to no recharging. Charge the battery with a REAL battery charger. Then try running it.

No heat after burnt smell

Either your Fan motor is faulty or the fan control resister assembly is burnt out, either of those will cause the smell.

Camry ventilation system

Hi. The smell is due to water accumulation in the outside ventilation chamber every time there is a rain, or you wash it, water will get in it, no matter what you do, unless you got the car garaged, of course. Replace the cabin air filter, and remove the grill underneath the windshield wipers and vacuum it. That's the best thing you can do.
