Auto windows not working on driver and passenger side front

My 1993 Olds 88 royal driver and front passenger auto windows will not work. Rear windows work fine. I have taken off the drivers side door panel and hear a clicking from a black module that is between the switch and the motor.

This could be an issue with corrosion of the relay between the switch and the motor (little black box).

Sometimes the glue that holds the motor's "piston" to the window will stop working, and the "piston" will slip off the window, causing the window to stick in the down position as well. As long as your doors are apart, you might want to check that too.

For the windows to work, you may need to find a new relay, or possibly a new motor. They can burn out or have other problems in excessive heat/use/age. The GOOD news is that pretty much every salvage yard will have 4 or 5 1987-1991 Oldsmobiles sitting around, so you can steal the parts for next to nothing. Also, Buick LeSabres (also 1987-1991) are almost identical to the 88's, so you can use those for parts too!

Best of luck!

My brother had the same problem with his pontic grand am, only it was the front windshield but all he had to do is get the proper weatherstripping and put it in.
