This is for Aspire, same transmission but not sure if same amount of fluid fill.

Transmission Fluid Fill If the automatic transaxle has been completely drained, remove the fluid level indicator (7A020) and add 2.8L (3 qts) of the specified transmission fluid through the oil filler tube (7A228). If the automatic transaxle has been disassembled, and the torque converter (7902) has been drained, remove the fluid level indicator and add 5.7L (6.0 quarts) of the specified transmission fluid through the oil filler tube. Check the transmission fluid. Refer to the procedure in this section.

Hi,there should be a dip stick on the gearbox,when car is at running temp,put the gear leaver through all the gears slowly,then leave it in drive and pull the pipstick out clean the fluid of the end of the dipstick and put it all the way in to the tube it came from,pull out and check the fluid,there should be markings on the dipstick for hot and cold,make shore its filled to the hot level,and dont over fill.good luck.

I have an 89 ford festiva and want to check the transmission fluid level where do i do that
Should be in the left rear section of the engine compartment. Small, yellow, loop, big enough to get your finger in. With a warm engine, pull it out, wipe it off with a clean cloth, reinsert, pull back out to check fluid level.

Stick shift normally has to be checked by a shop.It is very difficult to reach AND get an accurate reading without a lift.I have a 1995 Ford with a stick shift and take it in also.

How do you get your drive shaft out of your transmission box at a ford festiva 1989?? thankx a lot
take a 2 foot prybar, shimmy it up between the trans casing and the end of the shaft and pry. It will help if you have the halfshaft out of the spindle at the wheel hub.
