You will have to call the dealer and get the code (you will need the VIN or the radio model # and serial #). Since your radio display says off, you will have to leave the radio on with ignition key in the number 1 position until it says code. Then you can put in the code. Hope this helps.

Ring a major volvo dealer. If you give them your engine or chassis number they should be able to provide you with the unlock code providing the radio is the original one fitted when new. Enter code using preset station numeric buttons. Write the code on the back of your sun visor for next time
A volvo dealership can tell you , or if you have the owners manual , and are lucky , you might find that the original owner wrote the code down in the book somewhere.
i called a dealership in town and asked nicley, gave them the vin and they looked up the code and told me. online im not sure where to look it up, but if you call its a chep fix
HELLO
in order to get the security code for your radio the serial number and VIN of the car are needed, each code is unique to each car it is installed in, it was provided to the original owner with the owners manual when the car was new, the code is stored in the vehicle information computer of Volvo and can only be accessed by the dealer or a few on line web sites, we have no access here at Fixya to these security codes for any make or model car or light truck, here is a web site that may be able to provide the unlock code for the radio for a nominal charge. http://www.radio-code.co.uk/volvo-radio-codes.html
This is a security feature. COD means Code. same thing happend to me on my volvo, i called the local dealership and they asked me for the vin and looked it up. hope it helps
The original response is correct about acquiring the code from the dealer. However, if you just purchased the car, check inside the glove box/manual as it may be located there. Also, you may want to try pulling the radio out of the dash. I have found them written on the radio as well. Defeats the purpose, but some people do it anyway.
