How to install a read wiper blade on a FX45 2003... replacement blade requires that the blade be inverted for installation, but the fixture arm only raises about 3" ... not enough to swing the blade underneath to click it in ... there does not seem to be a release mech on the arm to allow it to "open wider"

Well, there is a clip in the middle of the factory blade that you press while sliding the blade to the left which will remove it. If you can't remove the blade, or if you absolutely must, you can completely remove the arm by popping off the cover at the base and loosening the nut that secures it to the motor shaft. You should be able to pop the cover off with a small flat screwdriver and the nut will more than likely be a 10 mm.

How to install a windshield wiper blade

You will need new wiper blades before you can perform a wiper blade replacement project. Get your "owner's car manual" as it will tell you everything you need to know about the wipers' size and type. The manual may also give you list of brands you can choose from for you wiper blades.

  1. Buy the correct wiper blades, make sure you have bought the entire blade and not just the rubber insert. Read the instructions properly before you begin. It will show you how to perform the wiper blade replacement.
  2. Take the wiper arms off the windshield. You will have to remove the old wiper blades very carefully so you don't hurt yourself. Wear kitchen gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty or cut yourself.
  3. Push on the tab of the old wiper blades and pull them out. You can also use a small screwdriver to lift the tab.
  4. Take the new wiper blades and insert it in the arms very carefully. Don't push too hard, but do it gently. It will easily slide itself in. You will hear a "click" sound when the entire blade has gone inside.
  5. Wiggle or shake the new wiper blades to see they are secured properly and won't fly away when you turn them on. If all looks good, lower the wiper arms back on the windshield. And you're done!

How do i replace the window shield wiper blade

The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.

My rear wiper gets snagged on the fixture of the cyclopse brake light. My 2005 Dodge Magnum was rear-ended awhile ago (and repaired), and then shortly threafter I had the Valvoline-Quicky-Oil-Change Team...

First try measuring the length of the wiper blade and calling your dealer or auto parts store to verify that the length is truly correct. Technicians might have grabbed the wrong length. If that's ok, go back to the people who repaired the accident damage and ask them if the arm was correctly installed, sometimes one notch on the shaft of the the blade arm will make the difference in wiper blade travel, if both of these possibilities fail, then maybe the shaft might be bent, or loose. Hope this helps-Jim

How to remove wiper arm on 2003 Pontiac grand am

The installation process is simple and requires pushing down a tab on the wiper mount and rotating the wiper blade so you can pull the wiper out of the hook on the arm. Then you simply snap the new wiper blade on. The replacement wiper blades will come with step-by-step, illustrated instructions and once you have the instructions and the wiper blades/arms in your hands and in front of you, it will all make better sense and will an easy maintenance task. Very simple and takes 5-15 minutes usually not requiring any tools.

That's for a pontiac sunfire of the same year, can't imagine that it's any different from a different model of the same make and year!

How do I re-attach my wiper arms?

Start off by putting a cardboard box over the windshield and under the wiper arm to avoid breaking or scratching the windshield. You need to turn on the wiper switch and then turn on the key. When your wiper arm is pointing to the top of the windshield turn off the key to keep it there. Now, depending on the type of wiper arm you have ( bayonet, shepherd hook, L pin or straight arm ) depends on how to remove old arm. Shepherd hook is the most common and has a lock on the blade that needs to be pressed in to release the blade from the arm. Now slide the blade toward the windshield, off of the cradle for the arm. Swivel the cradle so you can slip the blade off from the inside of the arm and reverse procedure to install. The Bayonet, L pin and straight arm styles usually require a small flat blade screwdriver pushed between the body of the blade and the arm, then twist to release blade. Some blades also have a lock that will need to be pressed to release blade from arm, then twist screwdriver to remove. Hope this helps!!
