Hello, when I start my S4 hot or cold, it sometimes will quickly rev up to 2000 - 2500 RPMs. and stay there, so I have to turn off the ignition and try 2-3 more times before it finally starts correctly.
My friend removed the idle control valve and said that he thought it appeared to be sticking. Do you think this is my problem, and if it is, can I fix it myself without buying an expensive replacement? Thanks in advance
The se esprits the s4 and s4s series are programmed to speed up engine rpm and close off the exhaust back pressure valve to speed up the heating of the catalytic converter to operating temperature and is quite normal regardless of engine temp. if you quickly blip the throttle pedal a few times it should settle as the cat temp rises if that is the case then it is all working as normal.
