Red is normally power in and black is normally earth wire. Get a 12 volt dc transformer that plugs into the power outlet and get the plug jack socket from a electronic shop and solder the wires correctly (red to centre pole ) and it should work . You will need a high wattage transformer for this.

There are more than a dozen wires (some of them paired) coming out of 2 plugs.

Try radio shack, or stereo sales/installation place for ready to go plug adapter. For a few bucks, it saves headaches, and butchering the wiring in case you want to re-install old one later when trading in or selling the car.

I have a 94 maxima and almost every time I had an electrical issue it was not the device, or the fuse, but the relay!

You have a 95 - which is the next generation maxima so don't know it will apply to your car. Almost all my relays were just to the right of the fuses - I had to remove a panel to access it (just remove a few screws).

To find out which one you can swap relays as long as the match (look at the picture on top of the relay). Go to www.maxima.org - it is a great resource.

Remove the high tension cable to the distributor from the ignition unit. Conduct a spark test. If there's no spark, try to replace the ignition coil or the igniter.
