Yes you need to turn on the BOSE amplifier in the car to hear the sound. The wiring diagram is actually on top of the factory radio
You will need a 12v trigger to turn the amp on. this is assuming you have all the speaker (inputs) connected to the output from your new deck.

SOURCE: CD player is shot, have to replace entire unit.

Buy a set of VW/Audi stereo removal tools (they are cheap on ebay) you need 4. There are 4 little slots that you insert them into and it will allow the stereo to pull out

SOURCE: rear speakers do not work with aftermarket stereo install

I had the same problem a while back after having a JVC MP£ player fitted at Halfords. The guy told me my sub-woofer behind the back seat wouldn't work with the new stereo which I said was ridiculous, then one of the other guys came to look and told him I needed a different cable to link everything together - then it worked brilliantly.
Sorry I dont know a part number but that is definately your problem.
I hope this helps - or better still that you already have it sorted !!

SOURCE: trying to install a new cd player in my 97 audi a4

Does it have a connector for the stock wiring.. If so they should sell a connector kit at your local stereo dealer or walmart..

If not your black,red,orange/yellow are your main.. and the speaker wires should be the same colors..

Need free Wiring Diagram for a Chrysler 300M. want to use factory plug in for stereo. Installing a Sony Xplod cdx-gt300

You can buy a harness adapter at most big box stores ( Best Buy, Walmart and so on. It will have a wiring/color code, and once attached correctly to the new head unit, it will be plug and play. Good luck.

Changed Radio and now car won't start

What stereo did you use as a replacement? If you used a aftermarket (kenwood, sony, etc) cd player, you need to use the proper adapter harness. These cars have a build in theft deterrent system that involves the stereo. So, when you replace the stereo, a component of your anti theft system is missing. The use of the harness gets around this feature somehow, and allows you to use aftermarket CD players. Also, ensure that no wires are getting pinched behind the stereo, and that all your connections are soldered and shrink wrapped to avoid any future problems. I have provided a link for the correct adapter harness to your vehicle.

DOES THE RADIO PLAY? HERE ARE THE FACTORY WIRING COLORS FOR THE RADIO HARNESS, RECHECK YOUR WORK. IF U FIND NOTHING THEN IF THE RADIO PLAYS THE CD PLAYER IS DEFECTIVE, IT HAPPENS BELIEVE ME.

Installing an aftermarket CD player.

Go to a stereo sales & installation shop, or even auto parts places usually have them now too, and get an adapter harness for your particular vehicle. They plug directly in to your existing harness, then you simply wire your new stereo to it,via directions. Few bucks now, will save hours of aggravation later,.and if you decide to sell vehicle later, and put old one back in, it's all there to plug back in, nice & clean.

Where can I get a speaker wiring chart for 97 Ford Explorer

Perhaps there was another system installed at another time and someone cut the wires within the system to make that particular stereo system work. Inspect the wires all the way from the decks wiring harness to the speakers, they could be cut and you might be able to splice the wires and reconnect them or you may have to run seperate speaker wire for each speaker to resolve this issue.

your installing an aftermarket cd player in place of factory radio?
it would be best to buy the harness adapters. they plug into the factory harness and will tell you what all the wires are. harness is usually only 10-15 dollars. here is the diagram also.7834529.gifa4b592f.gif
