Rear window won't go up and down

I have a 1995 for bronco and i smashed the back end gate. I put a used one on from a 1997 ford bronco and now the window will not go up and down from either swith. Where can I get a free wiring diagram or do you have any suggestions. Thanks, Brian

I can hot wire the window and it works, so it isn't the motor. I am having trouble getting the headlamp switch off of the dashboard to be able to check for power at the switch. The circut breakers are good also, so it is in the wiring somewhere. Do you know how to get the headlamp pull off also?

there is no power at either switch the one the dash nor the key switch in the door

i have checked ir withe key on and have changed the circut breaker fuses to new ones, but i still cant get power at either switch

Thats easy, spray the switch at the latch on the drivers side, and open and close it a few times, that switch keeps the window from going up with the gate down and they do get sticky

Grab a test light (12 VDC) and test for power at motor when switch pushed. Polarity will reverse to operate motor opposite way. For example, you'll have power at one wire while switch pushed one way, then power at other when switch pushed other way. If need be, hotwire direct to motor wires to see if motor at fault or wiring to it.

If you have a test light or multimeter or DC voltmeter, just test wiring at back of vehicle, in side panel, or wherever harness is running first, to see if voltage that far or not. I wouldn't go ripping the dash switch out yet. If you are still going for dash switch, get back & I'll instruct.

You have checked all fuses at dash & under hood for power right, regardless of what they say they're for? With key on if needs to be when window is normally operated. Not uncommon for circuit to be added in with another fuse & not labeled accordingly.

I just bought a 1996 ford bronco to day and the rear window worked then i tried to open tailgate and now it wont work ? can you help.

This is a pretty common problem, Inspect the wiring in the tailgate jam area ,the wiring takes a lot of abuse ,every time the tailgate is open and closed the wiring inside the( black vinyl tube ) gets flexed back and forth and in time the wiring breaks some times if you open up the vinyl tube and inspect the wires it will appear the wires are ok but if you pull on the wire you'll find that it will actually stretch and all thats holding it together is the vinyl insulator ,also there are switches in the door latches of the rear gate that tell's if the tail gate is closed,if its not closed completely it will not allow the window to work properly hope this gets you in the right direction

Rear window on my 1987 ford bronco will not work

This has several possiblilitys, it could be the switch in the dash has gone out even if it does not work with the key in the tailgate. other possible item could be the window motor or a sensor that detects if the gate is up or down. check motor wires for power when the switch is activated by pulling off the panel on the tailgate, if it is getting power i would suggest replacing the motor. if not you may have to trace wires to the drivers side of the tail gate and find the sensor.i had to by pass mine a while ago. makes it much easier to clean the glass on the inside cause the window will roll up with the gate down.

How do you change the back window switch in the dash of a 1995 ford bronco?

that part of the dash panel should pull straight out,but ive never seen one go bad,if the window doesnt go up,then check the safety switch inside the drivers side latch of the tailgate, spray the latch with wd-40 and open and close a few times.if the window is up and you cant open the gate, then try tapping on the upper left corner but not too hard to dent the gate

1995 bronco rear windon won't work

You can try replacing the switch on the dash. If its the motor you will have to climb back and take apart some of the rear door to get to the motor. Its just 3 bolts to remove it. once its out you can lower the glass and open the door so its laying flat when you install the new one.
be sure to support the glass when its laying flat and extended ...I use large cardboard boxes under the glass

Back door wont open and window wont go down

The rear window has to be completely down in order to move the tailgate! You should be happy that your window is stuck up, unlike mine which is stuck all the way down! I have to completly take apart my tailgate!! If you want to try a trick to get the rear window down, my bronco has a rear window switch right next to the headlight knob, take the 2 purple wires on that window switch, and cross them, if your motor still works and if the wires are good, that should make the window go down!!! good luck, hope that helps!

Rear window down, how to remove window motor

take off the access cover and try to get to the motor bolts. might have to grind off the rivets that hold the regulator in place to get to the motor bolts. and take motor loose and slide window up. dont slide window up with the gate down as it will break the glass.

Rear window on 1986 ford bronco

I had the same problem with mine and I drilled out the rivets holding the motor in. Have someone hold the window up when you do this so it don't fall. after you get it drilled and you can let it down you should be able to remove the window from the track through the panel. It has been a while since i had done it but the window motor was very reasonable.... make sure you are getting power to the motor before going through all of this because you might be able to put power to it and make it roll down.
