Hi there;
You should use long life "orange" coolant if the coolant in the car is that colour. Sometimes people flush the long life stuff out & put green in. so you'll need to look @ your coolant & decide from there. What ever you do don't add green to orange or vise versa as that will create sludge.
If you visit you local parts store & tell them the colour of your coolant they should be able to set you up.

Hope this helps, Good luck.

Heater does not work on my 2005 chevy impala ls but the blower does but blows cold air

If you car is coming to temp but you get nothing from the heater the first place to look is the coolant valve for the heater core. It is sometimes called a mixing control. See if the control is jammed or your control cable is frozen or disconnected from this valve.

The valve should be somewhere near the cooling lines leading into the heater core. I am sorry, but they may be under the dashboard as well.

Good luck and be careful.

I noticed coolant leaking from this small hose it is located in the area on top of the water pump. it seems to be connected to the engine block. it is L shaped,my engine is a 3.8 liter v6 in a 2004 chevy...

if the hose has a small hole in it, it is no problem to replace, any parts house can get you a replacement hose, let car cool, loosen clamps remove old hose, install new one
