If you mean the switch that the key cylinder operates, it should be near the floor on the steering column. You just disconnect the harness and remove two screws. You have to remove the cover around the steering wheel and push a pin to remove the key lock. There are videos on YouTube to do that.

I looked at info for your security system, it is starter motor disable. I didn't see 06 ford Taurus in my database, so I looked at 05.

Inspect/Test/Replace
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod. NOTE
On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not normally visible.
On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch is accessible under the dash.

To replace the switch:
key switch?then turn the key to acc, first spot where the radio comes on ,then pull off the plastic steering column cover on the bottom just under the switch, and push a paper clip in the tiny hole under the switch and wiggle the key switch out.if you dont have a key i would recommend a lock smith to pull out the switch because the switch has to turn to acc in order to remove it...if you are talking about the actual ignition switch, its at the bottom of the steering column with 2 little bolts and 1 long wiring plug
