Did you also replace the brake sensor wire with the brake job? its similar to #12 in this pic for the front axle(http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=EU33&mospid=47722&btnr=34_0757&hg=34&fg=05 if it was done at a BMW dealer, then replacing the sensor wire is part of the job. if replaced at an independent shop, then they might not know. each axle will have this sensor wire that wears just like the pads. replace this sensor wire and all should be fine.

good luck

Dash and interior lights do not work

Dash lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. Dash lights not working is an indication that the tail lights are not working. The first thing to check is that the tail light fuse is not blown. Most of the time replacing the tail light fuse will restore both the tail lights and the dash/interior lights. If this is not the case you may have to trace the wires and look for a broken or unplugged wire in the harness.

My daytime running lights do not turn off...........sometimes I've had to resort to unhooking the battery when I park. My original book's diagram of the fuse and relay boxes does not totally...

1- look for sensor- usually in speaker grill on dash - passenger side- clean with windex and towel
2 - if no go- replace headlight switch- controls the daylight and always on lights-
3 if this does not help- need to replace daylight control unit- looks like amp - but silver with fins- usually behind glove box under dash

Warning light on bottom left of dash- circle with 3 dashes on left and right side of it. What does this mean?

It's an yellow warning indicator lamp. It lights when front brake pads are weared. Now it's time to replace used brake pads!

A dash light emblem of a circle with 3 dashes on either side.. what does this mean?

If it looks like the symbol in the image below, it is your brake pad wear sensor.

Your front or rear brake pads are probably worn out (and are below the minimum thickness) and need to be replaced.

Or the wear sensor could be faulty and need replacement also.

1999 m3 light indicator light--what does it mean

does the one look something like this? IIIOIII or (((O)))

this is the brake wear indicator saying that you need brake pads somewhere on the car (front or rear).

the other sounds like you either have the traction control (its a button with either DSC or ASC written on it) turned off or its showing you that it is off because you need need brake pads.

Amber warning lite on dash circle with 3 dashes on each side

Warning light for low or worn brake pads. Could also be a damaged sensor wire or connection. Most likely pads though.
