SOURCE: 96 ford crown vic over heating

it seems you have to seperate issues here. fiirst let's start withtthe over heating. you stated that you have replaced the pump, thermosta, fan, clutch, all the hoses, and core. now my question to you is did you route the belt so it's circulating like it should? is it steaming out from under the hood? to be quite honest the vehicle should not even be close to overheating after driving only 3 miles. there is a possibilty that you have a bad sending unit for the temp if it is not steaming out from under the hood. your upper radiator hose is hot this tells you that the thermostat is operating as it should. the fan should be turning clock wise as you are looking at it from the front of the vehicle.when you fill the system with coolant make sure that you have the heater on high and to the hot setting. check to make open sure you have plenty of coolant and that the radiator is free of dirt and bugs.. now as far as not having anyheat in the vehicle check the fuse for your climate control. look under the dash and make sure you hooked all the cables for your fresh air door and blend door. when you changed the core did you connect the hoses in the right place?after you have checked all the hoses and the coolant is as full as can be and the heat is turned on to max ,keep the radiator cap off and start the vehicle wait for it to get hot check the upper radiator hose to see when the thermo stat opens you should see that the coolant should go down in the radaitor. do these things and check back with me on the results...please rate this help...thanks

SOURCE: 1996 ford contour gets hot , no hot heater or temp guage movement

Is your temperature gauge working now? That is of more concern then your heater as you wouldnt know if your engine was overheating until its too late. Your heater core could be clogged, they get clogged quite easily. You can flush them or replace. The part is inexpensive but on some models you have to take out dash to replace them, but on other models it only takes about 30 mins and a few bolts.

fan temp sending unit on the thermostat housing is bad, will not give engine light.change both the sending unit and temperature sensors. as these are a pain to get to.

SOURCE: Coolant Problems

Hi there. It sounds like you have done the most obvious checks and I can assure you by-passing the heater core will have no effect. There are three possible causes that you need to investigate further and you will need specialist equipment for it - you either have a hair-line crack in the head or cylinder wall or it might be that the head bolts are stretched and therefore weakened and so need replacement. To help you identify these aforementioned possible problems, you might need a specialist fluid that you put into the cooling system which changes colour when combustion chamber pressure enters the cooling system, you need to contact your local Ford Dealer for this - but then you still have the three possible problems to deal with - cracked cylinder wall/s, cracked head or stretched head bolts. Hope this helps, Scottech.

Most likely one or both electric radiator fans are not working, or you are simoly low on coolant.

I have an honda oddysey 2000.. Temp gauge rises when running with Ac. Once Ac turned off, temp goes back to normal. Both fans working. No steam coming out from hood. I placed coolant in the radiator

if you are loosing coolant the problem must be addressed first. but if not I would blow out the condenser and radiator fins. bugs and debris clogging the condenser or the radiator will limit airflow.

You need to bleed the air from the cooling system. The bleeder valve is located just behind the water pump housing. It is a small hex head (7MM) screwed into the coolant bypass tube. Pour coolant into radiator with the valve opened until coolant comes out of the valve. The cooling fans will not come on until the temperature reaches 225 degrees.

Heater working intermittent

With the car parked on an even and level surface..

Check the coolant level in the engine compartment. There should be a reservoir that has markings for levels of coolant depending on whether the engine is hot or cold. Add a 50/50 water /coolant mixture to the reservoir to bring it to the correct level.

After the engine has been off for a couple hours
(cold), you should also check the coolant level in the radiator. Thi sis especially important if the reservoir was low or empty. Open the cap and start the engine, with the heat set to hot and fan to high. Watch the coolant level in the radiator as the engine temperature rises. If it is really cold out, you may need to rev the engine to 1000 - 1500 RPM to get it warmed up fully. Once the engine is at operating temperature, top off the radiator with the same 50/50 mixture you used for the reservoir. You should be able to see the coolant flowing in the radiator, and there should be plenty of heat now since there is no air in the system.

Good luck!

Sounds like your cooling fans on the radiator are not working. The fans are activated by a thermol switch on the engine or radiator reading the coolant temperature and an A/C switch. When the coolant is too hot the fans should activate cooling the system down. And, when the A/C is on the fans should also activate in order to cool the condensate so the A/C would work.

When you are driving, the movement of the vehicle throught he air is providing enough air flow to keep things cool and functional.

I would check the radiator fan fuse or fuses first. If those are OK I would try to run the fans with 12 volts and a ground that I supply just to see if the fan motor(s) actually run when powered. If the fan don't run when powered then the fans are bad and will need to be replaced. If the fans do run when you power them manually, then something is not allowing the power to activate, like a relay, control unit, or wiring.

It will take a little diagnostics, but it is not too difficult to chase it down.

Teperature gauge on my 2004 grand prix gt rises above halfway mark but lowers as soon as car accelerates.

Check your coolant level in the radiator first. Problem could also be a weak waterpump

Look to see if it has a electric fan for the condenser and radiator,if it does not,the fan clutch is bad,if it does have a electric fan for the ac ,make sure it is coming on every time the ac is turned on.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.
