OK, a vacuum controlled blend door is the problem.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figure 1

Fig. Fig. 1: Plenum door vacuum motors

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the motor.
  2. Remove the 2 motor attaching screws.
  3. Rotate the assembly so that the slot in the bracket is parallel to the tee-shaped end of the door crank arm, and pull the motor and bracket off the crank arm.
  4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
--- Search for other vacuum motors under the dash to see if the vacuum hoses have somehow deteriorated or become detached. --- Try to look up your vehicle on autozone.com for other vacuum motors under the 'heater' section of the 'chassis electrical' section of the 'repair guide' after selecting your 1996 Ford f250 crew cab vehicle. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f8038ebd8

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WHEN SELECTING THE DIRECTION FOR THE AIR

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

SOURCE: why is all the air blowing through the defrost vent only

Either the door that controls the flap that either sends the air through the defrost or the regular outlet is stuck or not working. Some of them work off of a cable and others work from vacuum. Not sure which the ford escort uses but usually you are able to hear the flap move when you go from defrost to regular cabin vent. Or possibly the air duct hose has come off that sends the air through the cabin. Good Luck and hope this helped a little.

96 Grand Am 2.4l A/C not equipped - Lots of cool air through vent. Almost no air to defrost. Blows hard to floor (great temp mix). Every vent setting? Mech just replaced heater core? What? Fine before

Looks like your mechanic messed up. If he has any integrity then he should take care of you. If not and you want to try and tackle it yourself then you have to ask yourself this: do I want to pull the dash out? Because that is what that will entail. Sounds like he may have messed up the ducting somehow. Unless the blend doors and directional doors are electric actuator operated in which case those actuators need to be replaced

Defrost not working in 2000 chrysler 300

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the desired vents.

Air will not blow through defrost or floor. the air will only blow through the a/c vents.

You need to check the space between your heater core and your a/c condensor. Dirt and dust plug these up alot. It could also be your heater control switch itself, not allowing the heater door to switch over. If you don't hear a vaccuum sound when you change from vent to heater or defrosr, your switch/control is bad.

The heater core is going bad in my blazer, but it still blows hot air. When I turn the control to switch the heat from vent to defrost or floor, it still blows out of the vent. How do I fix this?

THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A HEATER CORE IF CORE IS GOING OUT IT WILL LEAK THATSOUNDS LIKE AN ACTUATOR ACTING UP OR VACCUUM LINE LEAK BEHIND DASH

When I cut on my air or my heat it will not blow out the vent but it will blow out the defroster what is the problem 1995 Catilac sedan Seville

One of you motors in the heater venting system has burnt a fuse, burnt out or has come disconnected. This prevents a flap in the heater from changing positions and sending air to the floor or the defrost.
Have you had a heater core or motor replaced recently as the heater ducting needs to be removed for some of this work and it is possible to have problems with the heater venting doors not moving after the work is done.

Why my window is fogging whe i turn the heater ?? i recently bought my toyota carina 3 model 1994 but the window is fogging , what should i do?

Make sure the vent system is set to draw air from outside. If it is set to recirculate the same air that's inside the vehicle without drawing fresh air from outside, the resulting humidity that builds up inside the vehicle can fog the windows even when you run the defrost. You can also try opening the windows a bit to get some more air moving inside.
If it still fogs when the vents are set properly, you may have a leaky heater core. The heater core is a small radiator that is located under the dash that the heater system blows air through to heat the inside of your car and provide heat to defrost the windshield. The fog may be coming from the heater core leaking hot coolant steam that's being circulated through the defrost system. If this is so, you will need to replace the heater core.

The heater still won't work after I changed the thermostat on my

Get a female garden hose adapter from the local hardware store. Disconnect the heater hose from behind the fan pulley and attach the hose connection. Disconnect the other heater hose behind the alternator, aim it towards the ground and flush water through the heater core. This worked on my truck.

Just got heater core replaced and now have no heat from heater or defrost. Fans work, just don't blow anything beyond "cool". The heat in my car is coming and going. I want to know how to fix...

It sounds like when they replaced your heater core, that they didn't properly hook up the blend door contros at the control panel. I would take it back to the repair shop that did the work and have them go back over things again just to make sure.
