I need to replace a blown head gasket on my 2000 ford taurus 3.0 liter flex fuel vin code 2. Is there anything I need to know that is different than the gas 3.0 liter? My Clitons manual does not cover the flex fuel engine.
SOURCE: What is the average cost to repair a blown head
if you do it yourself, the gasket it probably like 50, intake gasket 30 , plus new head bolts, anywhere from 5-10 dollars each. if the head needs resurfacing its like 50, plus valve job is 140, --
the average, if you do it your self is about 500-
now if you have block damage, or severe head damage, that cost will go up significantly, and i dont know why you are replacing your head gasket or i could help you out with the price better.. leave a comment and i will answer your questions if you want.
if you take it to a dealer, it will be anywhere from 1500average to 3000 and up for significant damage..

well..fuel injection systems are more than the electronic part. I suspect you are dealing with compression or injector fouling issues..

Unfortunately there are too many things that could be wrong Most mechanics will not be tied to a price because the head gasket alone is probably not the only fault.Generaly the head itself is the culprit for the symptom your giving. It may be corroded or cracked and may not be repairable. Then theres all the other bits and pieces like hoses, thermostat etc.Once its all apart and can be inspected you will get your quote, head is usualy sent to machine shop to be inspected and a price for repair/replacement is given by them.Usualy takes a couple of days to get a full quote unless your mechanic has all the nessecary tools and equipment to do it on site.Good luck and hope it all works out ok
