Leaking intake gasket.

Hello, I have a 1998 Buick Century and I wanted to know what the average price is to replace a leaking intake gasket? I live in Phoenix, Az. Thank You.

I had the same problem. I understand there are a lot of people with this make and model that are having the same problem. Will Buick reimburse us for all or part of the money it took to replace the intake valve? I hate I ever got hold of this car more than one problem. What a shame.

What engine is in this? Is it the Supercharged 3800 or the non-Supercharged? The gaskets themselves are not terribly expensive (GM has revised Lower Intake Gaskets) but it would help to know if its the upper or lower intake gasket that is leaking.

Its not hard to replace either, but it is kind of labor intensive and that is where most of the cost will be. If you are confident in doing mechanical work you can do the job yourself easily enough. But I have seen repair quotes range from $300 - 600 depending on where its down and the labor rate for that area.

I can't locate the radiator drain plug on my 2001 buick century. Help!

Not all radiators have them, just remove the lower radiator hose and spray hot water through it from the top till it comes out clear, usually works better anyhow... Note: if your coolant is nasty and all brown and gummed up its cause you have a leaking intake gasket and oil is mixing with your coolant,, if this is the case you may have to replace the radiator as well as the gasket on the intake..

Why do my coolant keep running out

If you have a 3.1L or 3.4L V6 engine, I can guarantee you have either an intake manifold gasket leaking, internally, or the rear head gasket is leaking externally. They are extremely prone to coolant leaks for both. Get it checked out soon, the head gasket job can cost upwards of $1000.00. The intake leak is half of that if caught in time.

1999 buick century coolant on top of intake manifold no engine lights on

Carefully check all hoses & clamps. If leak/seepage not found then check for leak along the intake manifold - the manifold gasket could be leaking and this is quite common.

I have a 2002 Buick Century and soon after I start it white smoke comes out of the exhuast pipe. I don't believe coolant is getting in to the oil, so I was just wondering if I can keep driving the car...

If the white smoke comes out for 15 to 30 seconds your engine is ok. Condensation does build up inside the engine and as well as the exhaust and will burn out in that amount of time. If the white smoke is continuely extracted from the exhaust pipe you do have coolant leaking through the head gasket

My 1998 buick century is leaking coolant from the engine where the water pump is mounted.

it could be a loos hose clip or the water pump, there is a gasket behind the water pump this could be leaking as well there is a quick fix you could try if its a clip or gasket leaking it should stop the leak, but it wont stop a water pump leaking ,,,,,,,,,,,
get some "rad seal" and tip it into the rad,,,not the header tank it go's right into the rad then top it up with water and run up the engine itll its hot after a short time the leak should stop,,fords put it in all there new cars and vans that come out there fatctorise,, so if its good for them to use it,, it must work?

Linking out of the thermastat

If the thermostat housing is leaking it could be a bad gasket, a cracked thermostat housing, or a crack in the intake manifold where its bolted on. Cheapest and easiest option would be to get a new gasket and a thin layer of blue permatex.
