I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport which stalled out going up a short steep hill

I had the car towed back to my house and it has been sitting in my driveway for around a week and a half now. Battery is good. Just checked for possible vapor lock in gas tank and found none. I'm not getting any sort of ignition whatsoever.

SOURCE: changing brakes mits. monero spt. 4wd 2000

it is easy to change even you can change it your just going to take off the front wheel then you will see the break panel there's a bolt holding the break pad loose it so can pull the break pad out... or more or less even a driveway mechanic can do this for less cost...

SOURCE: Mitsu Montero Sport '02 engine stalls but not when air cond is on.

hi there. the reason that the engine idles good when the air-con is engaged is that ussually all vehicles nowadays have a vacumm advance mechanism. this is triggered mainly by a electric solenoid valve which is also attached parallel to the source supplying power to compressor. a small vacumm hose with a diameter like a common pencil or ballpen case. its made of rubber and it runs from the alternator vacumm pump then to the solenoid valve and to the vacumm advancer unit attached to the injection pump throttle. this system raises the idle a tad higher.

if your montero runs completely normal and you experience no other problems with your engine except for your present problem, then the solution is just raising the idle a little higher. if your montero is equiped with a RPM guage on the dash, try adjusting the idle to around 800 rpms. it would be healthier for your car if the idle raises a bit when you engage the air-con because this would compensate for the added load on your engine.

hope this helps.

SOURCE: My 2000 honda crv loses power coming up a hill,

My car is doing the same thing.... I have found that the likely cause is the catalytic converter.....I just had my factory converter replaced when the clamp rusted out...about 5 months ago...I'm heading back to the garage to see what they can do about the replacement one failing.

Make sure there is no air in the cooling system, and that the cooling fan is working, coming on,and going off on it`s own.if it is not ,replace the coolant sensor.

Can the kill switch on a 2000 montero sport be bypassed by shorting across both starter solenoid terminals when the key is on? Have tried everything else.

if I ever run across a "how to steal a car" section, I'd be happy to post replies that will injure the person trying to bypass anti-theft systems.
I have posted half a dozen replies to this affect today alone.
If you are in need of bypassing anti-theft systems, the best bet is to take it to a shop....or tow it.

I hope you can see through my sarcasm and realize that posting the correct answer would just teach car thieves new tricks.

What does the A/T buttom mean on my 2000 mitsubishi Montero Sport Mean?

The A/T button is the power/economy mode which changes the shift points at which it up and downshifts. The A/T mode would be good for towing a trailor or a load inside the car up hill where you would want the engine to shift at higher RPMs so it would not be shifting so much back and forth everytime you go up and down a hill.

Why does the starter fuse on my 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport continues to burn out

I think this happened to my 03 montero sport. The problem was the cigarette lighter(it is on the same fuse as the ignition). It wasnt connected correctly and was shorting out the fuse. Since i dont smoke, I simply disconnected the cigarette lighter completely.

2000 Montero Sport shutters/vibrates in 2 and 3 gears

Could be a wheel bearing and/or a rear differential pinion bearing, which usually get worse when under load(going up hill). I would definitely start there.
